Because they dont want us to copy it simple as that norma DVD's came out in 1996 gamecube and wii in 01 and 06 by then they saw that dvd's wrote inside out so the best way is just to make the data reversed so otside in and so far it works prtetty well it takes about 2 years for these consoiles to be cracked!

Thery dony burn discs they press the layer with the data on it already like for eg an empty dvd is pressed with a layer with nothing but is writeable that is y originals dont have the ring that is there on a writable disc when you burn it because the data was pressed onto the disc sounds wierd???

dont mean backup i mean pirate like you rent a game then copy it or use torrents they dont really mind backups sorta

that is why when you backup wii/gamecube disks they will not play because we have no true way of looking at the file format then rewriting the file header to boot this is why mod chips became so widly used

Tell this to the ESRB, MPAA, and the RIAA
I know you think you have the right to this, and while you do it's more complicated then just hitting 2 buttons and backing up everything you own. If there was some magic method of backing up that would for 100% make it so only people with real copies get backups they would do that. Untill we learn magic we'll have to deal with HEAVY encryption, so it's 100% possible for you to backup your game once you get through about a years worth of encryption. Considering how much money is to be made on breaking this specific encryption it'll start right away and get done in that short ammount of time compared to something that people couldn't profit off of.
Basicly, while you have the right to backup your software and the media companies have every right to protect their investments. These kinds of encryption are perfect for most manufactors cause after the product has been out for over a year the chances of people buying their product go down. They want to start switching consoles when people are able to just download games 1 day of release.
