now i know the internet channel on the wii is in beta form right now i think even the beta sucks even in beta versions of Opera for pc they include .mov .mpeg .mp3 .avi .wmv support and in this wii beta we only get flash no support for video so even people that watch online videos from youtube will be disaponted because not only does the wireless connection not work worth a darn using the beta flash video freezes then loads then plays then freezes again the wii really needs a wireless adapter update badly to fix connection issues my mac mini has better wireless then the wii right now
several things need to happen before a final release
1. download to the sdcard support
2. .mov and other video format support
3. full usb keyboard support
4. full usb mouse support
6. wireless fixed
7. better visuals
8. bigger font size im tired of having to zoom in
9. direct page loading set a home page and have it load it on startup in the internet channel

Well, I've had no problem streaming videos off of YouTube. The browser does support .mov, .mpeg, .mp3, .avi, and .wmv and more!
Downloads are not supported as this will lead to easy modification; and Gaming companies are trying to shy away from the fact their system is just a computer.
You can buy a BlueTooth USB Keyboard that works for the Wii.
They don't want a mouse for the Wii! You crazy? The WiiMote was whole new idea here; why get rid of it?
Wireless works fine; better than any other system I've used (This includes the DS, Xbox 360, my computer, etc.)
As for the font size, have you ever tried pressing the '2' button on your controller? Yes, it annoying, but it reformats the entire page, making everything a ton easier to read. Not to mention, you can buy special cables (the name of the cables slips my mind right now) that will allow you to have better graphics and read better.
Until Nintendo decides to come out with their own USB Keyboard, you NEED the start page to enter in the URL.
I've had NO problems viewing flash videos.
===========================================
As for your Wii getting messed up and all; I would contact Nintendo about that, as there has been some (a very few) consoles that have had some errors in them. Some people have had to send their Wii to Nintendo to get it fixed; they get it back, with all memory the same, within about 2 weeks. This is better than the Xbox was; as they just erased everything on the xbox; then handed it back to you in about a month!
By the way, I have a NetGear Router, my Bro has a Linksys; and both work fine...sorry to say, it's just you man.

i must agree with the wireless issues as my iBook sitting right next to my Wii has a MUCH better connection to my network than my Wii. I was just about to see if any body had an idea about to how to get a better connection or make an external antenna.
Bigger font size is a MUST
What is the name of the blue tooth Keybord you can buy to work? also it would be nice if they had a seting to chose you ha a keyboard so when you click on the text box it doesn't pop to the button menu for the wii mote.
EDIT: to tabletpc, It could be that since our Macs are far superior to the average PC we think the Wii's WiFi sucks but in reality its the PC's that suck which makes the Wii look better than it is. Just a thought

@potofgold - You could try ILOVEIM:
http://www.iloveim.com/
Not sure how well it works, but it's better than nothing!
@trigga71 - If you believe that Mac is best, then you better believe that you owe me $1 Million because I'm gonna be rich. Mac sucks, it's been proven. I admit, the wireless card in the Wii is not the best; however, you shouldn't have a router in your basement and be trying to play you Wii via WiFi up in the attic!
For the bigger font size, they're working on it.
Also, about the external antenna, some people have already made them, just do a google search for 'em.
As for the Bluetooth Keyboard, good luck! I've only heard of 'em so far, but never found them. I guess you could try doing a search for them.

to kslice917: Both mac and windows (PC) have good and bad aspects. I dont know when the last time you saw a mac but OSX 10.4 Tiger IS far superior to Windows XP out of the box. The only thing that keeps windows alive is 3rd party software. The only thing i cant do (because im lazy and have an intel mac that boots windows) is burn xbox 360 on my mac (in the windows side). Also after every thing i have heard and read windows Vista is just a copy of OSX 10.4 Tiger. Which i been out for since 05 and apple should be releasing there new OSX 10.5 Leopard. But like i said both have good and bad points. Just go to a mac store and look at them i think youll be surprised.
the router isnt in my attic, its on the second floor, and every thing even my Archos 604wifi get a great signal
I looked at this link for the external antenna looks easier then i thought

No they don't.
All of those CAN be supported through PLUG-INS.
But .mov and .wmv would have to be licensed by Nintendo, and Wii is not a media center, and Opera is not a media player so it's extremely doubtful that it would happen.

I'm just curious...everyone here complaining obviously has a computer. Why are you even surfing on the Wii? I tried it because it was free but if/when they release a full paid version I won't bother.
This is like having Christina Aguilera as your girl and complaining that Whoopie Goldberg won't back it up for you.

No, you are wrong. Opera does not support any of those. You can use plug-ins, but Opera itself does not support them. And there is no "BitTorrent edition", as BT is built into the browser itself, and all it does is to download files, not play them.

Because it's more convenient than getting up and booting one's PC when all you need is quick web access?

No, it's like having Aguilera which is nice to look at but maybe not very good for conversation, so when you need a good conversation you visit your other girl.

Ok, so what you are saying is that someone is redistributing Opera?
But that's got nothing to do with the fact that Opera itself does not support any of those. They require plug-ins, and if someone is redistributing Opera, they have included those plug-ins. They are not supported natively in Opera.
