yes there is a way there is a way to have the wii cd drive light be on all the time but you need to send your wii a message in order for the wii light to remain on just do not delete the message and leave it in the wii's message center

@tabletpc - Sorry to be doggin' you like this; but get your facts straight! There is no heat issue with the blue light. It uses very little heat. They have a Pulse VU mod-chip out for the Wii. The ONLY reason Nintendo did not have this feature is because they were originally planning on releasing later; however, later decided to use the light as an e-mail notification.
I know I'm just a newbie compared to your "Member" status; but I've spent countless hours researching on the Wii; once again, my apologies for downing you.

I am sure you are right about there not being any heat issue with these types of lights.. But I don't think that Nintendo disabled them because of their limited lifespan.
At your claim of 100,000 hours, even if you left your Wii on every hour of every day, the lights would still last over 4000 days! Do you really think that Nintendo expect "people to put more hours than that into their Wii"?? Thats over 11 years continuous use!!!!

@akira247: LOL @ your thread title. You silly Jap-o-naise people. Between the Wii & Hard Gay, i'm having a tough time seeing them as serious people over there >__>
As with any hardware, a simple mod could replace the light inside the case if it ever went bad. Just like {insert competitor here} had the spindle/spinner head of the DVD drive prematurely fail, or the readed DRE of death. Remove a few screws & I'm sure the light could be replaced.
Wii are happy you enjoy the system.
