ok i have back up many PS1 games and about 97% of the games work fine, but there are a few that just dont want to load. i have tryed using different setting on my modchip and reburning because i was thinking it may be a bad cd-r disc and even trying different programs like CDRwin but still no luck. I read somewhere that if you lower the writing speed to 1x-2x it should make these games work but the lowest speed i can go to is 4x. I was wondering if i go out and buy a older cd-rom burner that will burn at 1x and try to reburning them using the older cd-rom burner at 1x will this work?
PS1 Games that wont load:
Suidoden 2
armey sarge's hero 1
diablo (will load the game, but freezes at the beginning of the game where it shows diablo face and says at loading game please wait)
gameshark/code breaker
harvest moon
tales of destiny 2 cd3 (cd 1, and cd 2 work fine)
vandal hearts 2 (i even tryed applying the Protection Fix)
what im using:
v.7 ps2 modded with DMS4 Pro SE Modchip
Taiyo Yuden 52X CD-R Media Silver Thermal Lacquer( got them at supermediastore.com)
Alcohol 120% burning at 4x
Curent burner im using to back up Ps1 games :LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1693S
for ps1 games i just burn them using Nero 6 and i leave the burn speed alone. Now for ps2 burning, you should burn at half the disc speed (16x --> 8x), im not sure whether that is the case for ps1 games, i dont think so. I would also recommended verbatin discs (they are very good media for ps1, worked every time with me!), also the media you are using (tayios) are very good! Because some ps2 games are cd-r (same disc type for ps1 games), i burn them using Nero 6. How i burn ps1 games:
1) put the origanal disc (the game) into your cd burner.
2) open Nero 6 and select which burner the game is in (select in top right hand corner).
3) select the title 'copy entire disc'
4) in the source drive put in which burner your game is in, and do that also with the destination drive. DO NOT SELECT QUICK COPY!
5) i just leave the writing speed at MAXIMUM (doesnt make a differnce for me), but if that doesnt work, put the speed at half your disc speed, and click copy!
6) Nero is now creating an image for writing (reading the game).
7) once that is done, take out the game and put in the cd-r.
8) Nero will now put the image onto the disc. Wait for that to finish, then take the cd-r and play it on your ps2 or ps1.
Like i said before, this works everytime for me on my modded ps2 and ps1.
