Hi there, im sorry but I am new to this, and have trawled as much info as I can to find a solution to my problem, without wasting anyones time I dont think the solution is anywhere on these forums. Anyhow my system is :
Athlon XP 2600
512Mb RAM
Pioneer DVR111D DVD burner
JVC DVD reader

I have just bought DVD Cloner IV and am having problems with it. Basically the software will read the contents of the disk ok but when it comes to burn onto another disk it just either "hangs" or gives the message "has encountered an error and needs to close".
Bearing in mind i had this problem with DVD Cloner III and was told by the developers that version IV would sort out all problems, this is not the case.
I have updated the firmware to version 1.29 (latest) and the drive works fine with Nero on CDR and DVD-+R.
I am hoping someone can shed some light on this problem, as Im getting a bit fed up with it now !!

Many thanks in advance.

Hi.

I'm not familiar with the software.

Have you tried Ripit4me. It's free and does an excellent job. Here's a guide with links to the software:

Make sure you use good quality media like Verbatim and made in Japan labeled media from Sony, Fuji, and Maxell. Don't burn too fast, 4x -8X is usually OK, and your burner's firmware is up to date. Your burner's firmware is available at the site linked below as well as the Pioneer support site:

Hi, thanks for the reply, one other thing I should have mentioned was in the program it showed my Pioneer D drive as a Pioneer ? drive ! which I thought was odd, anyhow I have taken other advice from earlier posts and reformatted and started again and lo and behold it recognises the drive and all is happy in the world once again ! Thanks again for the replies guys.

Have had the same problems as you. Shuts down, won't open the files, won't burn the new movies as it advertises.

Support...well it's generic e-mails. Just e-mailed them about SawIII.They said many of their customers have the same problem and they'll....try to do better.

What a response! I e-mailed them this morning asking if their customers would have to BUY the next version to get the "fixes".

Waiting for a reply.

Hmm, yes you are right the email support is a bit basic to say the least ! However after doing a fresh format of XP and starting again (which was needed anyway) everything seems to be fine, had no failures so far. However BE WARNED unless i was doing something really stupid the default D5 size disk is 4.4 Gb (and not 4.7Gb which is the usual D5 single layer disk) and on some films when I do a "movie only" copy it was cutting the movie short at the end, and when I change the value to 4.7Gb in the settings it does it fine, it doesnt say anything about this and you have to change the setting every time you use the program as I could not find anything to save settings ! Also the program has trouble with coping with disks which have multiple titles, like the Simpsons season box sets, which have typically 5 or 6 episodes on one disk, but this program was having trouble fitting everything onto one D5 disk (4.7Gb setting altered) so now I have to use a D9 disk if Im doing anything with multiple titles. So in all if you know how to handle the program its ok, but otherwise its a right pain in the arse !!

I have a rather large stack of coasters because of this program. Support has had me uninstall and install the thing three times.

Won't open the newer movie files or it can't fine the disk.So it doesn't copy any DVD as it says.Playback freezes lots of times.

BTW--just a heads up. I bought this from Herman St. I also purchased the backup cd for it and the cd is useless as it's the old version that they are charging $5.00 for.Use the cd and you'll have to uninstall it and get the newer version from their site.

Filed a complaint with the BBB about them selling a useless backup cd.

Wouldn't buy it again and my friends are looking at others as well.

Well their support eventually told me to encode the dvd to hard disk first then I can use Nero or Roxio to burn the DVD ! Thats the program makers telling me it wouldnt do it all by itself but to use Nero !! I bought version 3 from Herman Street before Xmas and they gave me a refund in the end, I was then told that version 4 was the bees knees but like I have already said if you can put up with the programs little niggles then it works well, I havent had a coaster yet so far, using Verbatim 16x DVD-R

Yeah they told me about the HD also. I've used Maxwell DVD-R, Memorex LightScribe DVD+R,Fuji DVD+R that I got many a coaster of.

Now I was able to copy Twin Towers(WTC)on HP DVD+R 2.4 DL. One Copy came out good but two others would freeze a lot.I have used the split discs a few times with some success.

For $44+ I think it should do what it advertises.

Live and learn...just won't buy any of their products again.

I'm glad I found this place for some good info.
