Guys, something is not right here. I was told by a few to buy Verbatim discs, which I did. They don't work at all!!! My computer doesn't even read them. They're DVD-RW. Is that not good? Should I have looked for just DVDR+ or something? I tried both with Nero and DVD Decrypter. When i put the disc in, it just says Can't read disc, please enter disc. It doesn't work!!! I put back in one of my other DVDR's (the crappy Fuji ones that I'm not fond of), and my computer reads that disc! But that doesn't help me. What do you suggest I do? Please help, time is of the essence...

Thanks!!

a bit more information would be helpful, burner type? Firmware up to date? I think you might need to update your firmware, but at the same time if you would have bought dvd+/- r verbs instead of DVD-RW I could almost guarantee you would not be having these problems... they are very reliable.

If your drive can not detect/read your new Verbatim DVD-RW discs, then it is likely a firmware issue. Make sure your firmware is always up-to-date. Firmware plays a very important role when it comes to DVD burning, it helps to increase the burning performances and media compatibility.

As for media; I'll take any DVD+R over any DVD-R or DVD-RW any day, especially from "1st class media": Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim and Hitachi Maxell (MIJ by Hitachi Corp.) and "booktype" them into DVD-ROM. Yep, that's me.. smart burning, free of worries and enjoy all of my backups on any functional DVD players.

WARNING: Do not "update/upgrade" your SAMSUNG BD-D5XXX series (Bluray Player), or else you cant enjoy any of your movie files.

Hmmm. When you say firware, are you referring to the program I'm using to rip? or to burn? I usually use either Shrink, DVD Decrypter, or Fab Decrypter to rip (all of those are up to date... there's only 1 version of Decrypter, I use Shrink 3.2, and Fab Decrypter 3...I believe those are all up to date). And then for burning it, I'll either use DVD Decrypter again to burn it, or Nero (smart start), also up to date I believe. I really feel its the media. And its not even incredibly bad, I can just tell as the movie plays on, some scenes may look a little fuzzier than others. Some are clear, then other times the colors may seem fuzzy and distorted. I was using FujiFilm DVDR+ discs. I tried buying the Verbatim b/c I heard they were reliable, and when I put it in, it kept saying enter disc. It couldn't read it. It was as if there was no DVDR in the drive at all. They're actually DVDR- I noticed. Could that be it?
If it's not the media type, the only thing I can think of is the speed I'm burning it at. Could that be it? I used to do on Max speed, but someone told me 4x on Decrypter. Could that be it?

Thanks guys!

No... when I said "firmware" I meant the firmware version on your DVD burner, not the program to rip or burn, but it's nice to always keep those updated as well.

To check to see if you have the latest firmware via ImgBurn or DVD Decrypter

* open up DVD Decrypter or ImgBurn
* under Source, use arrow and choose your DVD burner
* click on Tools
* then select Drive
* then Check For Firmware Updates...

Now DVD Decrypter or ImgBurn will tell you the current firmware on your drive. Or simply go here http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_all.php and look for any updates on your drive.

Best of luck!!

Hey. OK, I did what you said. It said my current version for DVD Decrypter is C110. I don't know what that means, but I let it connect me to the firmware page, and I'm not sure I understand what it brought me to. Can you please help? This is what showed up on the page it brought me to:

So, to me, it looks like something pertaining to DVD Region, which I already have, and then 2 posts below it with links. What do I click on? What does this all mean?

Thanks man

According to the link (rpc1 forum), the latest firmware is C113. Is your drive an OEM Dell drive by chance?

This reply applies to user alkohol. I see that the latest firmware for my Dell is the C113 like you said. Now how do I download it?! I saw the link in the forum, but there's no option for download.
How do I update my firware now that I know what I need?

Thanks
