Hi all
i have tried using a few different torrent clients and have settled on Azureus and utorrent, i have a 2Mbs line and have forwarded ports and get all green lights but dont seem to get fast d/loads, i used to get my torrents from arenabg.com and found these to be the fastest i have had (around 100kbs)but it seems that site has gone down. now when i get torrents from other public trackers i get really slow speeds again even if they have lots of peers. Does the tracker make that much of a difference?
cheers

Danny

Hi,

Yes, it makes a significant difference as most private trackers will have faster torrents than public, due to the fact theres ratio restrictions (meaning more seeds!)

So, that means your going to have to find another tracker, why check out demonoid.com (open for free on fridays!); satisfys my needs...

well, demonoid is the worst of the private trackers, but its somewhat better than public. Try brute forcing into torrentleech or torrentbytes or some of the better, more secret, ones. Belive me, it is worth it. You will max out your speeds, wont even matter if there arent that many seeds.

Try setting your upload rate to "unlimited", but then go to each torrent's properties individually, and set their upload limit to "1 KB/s". It will work often.

Are you OUT OF YOUR MIND Ashroy ?
That's like telling him uploading isn't important, when it's generally known and accepted that SHARING IS CARING.
Not to mention his problem obviously lies elsewhere *port forwarding problem, possbile blocking by ISP, etc.*

@danny565 : try using Rav's bittorrent safety guide (it's a sticky in this forum), use it to set up encryption in whatever client you're using.
And FFS, read the stickies about port forwarding and connections.
It makes a LOT of difference.

Fiend,
Give it a rest. Sharing is voluntary.

Thank god for private sites then.
Leecher bashing FTW.
Btw, lots of people block folks who don't upload enough, and there's even a client that does it for you *BitTyrant i believe*.
"sharing is voluntary". pffft.

Even though sharing is "voluntary", not doing so would spell the end of BT (except for private sites) if everyone felt that way. It's simple; if your not going to upload, don't download.
