I bought an mp4/mp3 player from ebay and it's doing a few weird things.. when I put both music and/or videos on it only registers some of them.. and out of the ones it does actually register it won't even play all of them. It likes to turn itself of in the middle of things - whether playing music/videos, connected to the computer loading stuff, ect. - I've had to reformat it more than once.. when I reformat it it's fine for a bit.. I can load my stuff on it and it's always fine up until I disconnect it - and I do always eject it before disconnecting it - but it makes half my files disapear and the other half will have several copies of the same file <you can only see this on the computer though, not in the actual mp4 player> and it makes a whole bunch of weird files starting with a u that I can't delete - and it'll play some videos and the others it'll say format error but when I reformat the mp4 player the videos that say format error will switch around.. so it's not the videos.. this is a 4 gig and the firmware is wilson co 3.5.37 and the chip inside says samsung 646k9k4g08u0m.. can anyone help me figure out how to make this thing work?

I have never joined a forum before but have read many prior and tonight seemed to be icing on the cake, so to speak. I have just read you post and your isssue is exactly the same as mine. Haven't ripped the unit apart as of yet to check the chipset but the last two days has been very frustrating and I have only had the unit 4 days. Have tried copying smaller file folders and doing many different things with the unit and still the same issues once I try to use the player. Some specific issues:

-I copy 8 sub folders in the unit with no more than 40 songs in each folder. Everything checks out on the PC and whammo, as soon as you disconnect the unit from the PC, I only see 3 folders evident instead of 8 on the unit itself, the "ROOT" folder still only shows the three folders. When i re-hookup to PC, alot of duplicate files are now evident and quite the few have a stupid ~ squiggly line in the title name of the song. Weren't there when i disconnected prior?

-Due to frustration and testing, i tried and didn't follow the no more than max 99 songs per folder as per the sellers troubleshooting advice on his "positive response" link from his ebay address and tried to copy 663 songs onto the unit itself. No other files at all whatsoever, and 663 songs appear on the PC. Once i disconnect there are only 260 songs on the unit. Memory on the unit is 4080MB and 69%.

Reformatted the unit many times now and after reading many other posts tonight on other sites, i seem to have almost 4GB after formatting compared to what I read can be as low as 256MB or more.

Ordered mine from Ugoole and what was meant as a present for my boy, has been a pain in the you know what.
