Hey Guys,

Just wondering what you suggest I buy with my Wii, e.g games accessories and such. I will have about $500 dollars to spend, and the Wii over here is $380, so what do you all suggest I buy with it?

Thanks Guys.

Zelda is a must for the system. Fun game, and lots of Gameplay. You could also get ExciteTruck. It is a fun racing game. You will want to get more than one Remote, because if they sell out, it may be hard to find more for a while. Also, if you want more memory, buy an SD card. IT doesn't have to be one that has the word Wii on it. Any SD card will do. You may even want to get Wii Points, if you want to play any of the classic games.

Ok thanks, what size SD card do you reccomend, and can i get by on the stock memory or isnt there any? I was going to buy Zelda or Red Steel, because they both look great. I can always resort to Ebay for the remotes also. So umm..what size SD card is good?

The Wii has memory built in, and I have a 512MB SD card, and I haven't even used it yet. All that I used it for was putting music on the SD card, and then putting it in my Wii, so that I could listen to music while playing ExciteTruck. So I think that you will be fine with a 512MB card. My friend bought Red Steel, and I've played it, and I really didn't like it. The gameplay is short, and the Sword Battles are LAME. We both hated the game, and it hasn't gotten the best reviews. In my opinion, don't buy it (but hey... that's just me...).

Don't forget to get an extra nunchuk as well as the remote, a must have for 2 player boxing and a classic controller if you don't have a gamecube. The CC is needed to play Virtual Console games if you don't have the GCN controller. The component cables are nice if your TV can handle Progressive scan.

Ah ok thanks for that, you do get a nunchuck with the console? And no, i dont have a GC so i should buy a classic contoller also? I will have more money to play with because I'm working. So, how much would a 512 MD SD card, an extra controller w/ nunchuck and a CC?

The system does come with a nunchuk. I bought my 512MB SD card on ebay for around $17. Wii Remotes cost $40 at the store, but on ebay they are like $50-$80. Nunchuks are $20 in the store, and on ebay like 10 dollars more or so. Also, the Classic Controller is $20 at the store, and they are not that hard to find.

I would recommend not even BUYING any extra memory for it.
I mean, seriously, you're not going to use up the 512MB of onboard memory anytime soon. I would seriously recommend waiting until you run out before you decide to buy any more. In any case, SD memory gets cheaper and cheaper, so by the time that FINALLY happens, you may be able to pick up extra memory for next to nothing.

If you have friends/siblings/anyone one else who's going to want to play with you, you really should consider buying an extra remote/nunchuk pair. In the US, these cost $40 USD (for the remote) and $20 (for the nunchuck).

As for games, I wouldn't really recommend any of the games out there, unless, of course, there's some particular peculiarity that you might like. Zelda's the closest I can say to a general "everyone likes this game" kinda game. I personally like playing "Trauma Center : Second Opinion," but that's just me.

Honestly, if you can rent them, rent them. I don't really think there are too many games out there meriting the high price tag.

The Wii also supports paid downloads, but at $10 USD for some of the games, I doubt you'll be buying too many of these.

Beyond the extra controller, I say hold out on buying component cables. Yes, they're nice, but I would recommend waiting for a third party to make Wii cables affordable.

On my PS2 and my Xbox 360, I see no real difference between my friend's $85 monster cables, and my $15 no-name component cables.

As for Classic Controller : I would not recommend buying either this, nor the memory card, unless you seriously plan to buy a whole load of games for their "Virtual Console." Seriously, most of the games available for the Wii Virtual Console have been emulated, and the roms can easily be obtained. Why pay for something you can get for free? Also, most of the virtual console games will work WITH the Gamecube controller.

So, unless you plan on purchasing a lot of downloads (dozens and dozens of downloads), or playing gamecube games on your Wii, you really don't need to buy any extra memory. If you DO want to play Gamecube games/Virtual Console games, you can pick up an el-cheapo third party gamecube controller used for around $7 or $8 USD.

To sum it up, I'm basically saying that you shouldn't really need to buy anything other than an extra remote/nunchuk pair, and possibly a cheap gamecube controller.

Ah ok, thanks mate. Now that you say, I dont really need any more memory. I think I will be buying the games off the Nintendo Website, like the classic ones, because I love all the old games! I dont have a Gamecube controller, but I'm sure as you said I will be able to pick it up cheap. So for the moment all I am buying is another controller + nunchuck, Zelda and a Gamecube controller. I might have a look at Trauma Center. What is that game about, surgery or something?

You say that you are into the Classic Games. Well, I have a bunch of the NES ones, and you don't even need a GameCube Controller to play these ones. Before you buy the game it tells you which controllers are compatable. For most NES games, you can just use the Wii Remote. You hold it sideways, and it's just like the old NES controller. But for games on N64, and Sega, you may want to get a GameCube Controller.

Ahh I see, I think I will buy a CC or a GC controller just to be safe, because if i buy a gmae and I dont have a controller, i'd have to go and buy one, so it is easier to have one lying around for the odd occasion.

Some of the third party games require the CC to have proper controls, so Sega games and Tubographix will require the CC, it also plugs into the Wiimote, therefore, is somewhat cordless, a better idea to me. I would even buy a GC controller too if they brought one out that would plug into the Wiimote just to avoid the cables and stay bluetooth.

I would say defintly get a extra remote and nunchuk. But u might want to mess around with ur Wii for a few weeks to a month adn see what u need. Ya rent rent rent. Zelda is an all around good game i think but I dont think there are too many other games that are like a "must buy"

thats just what I am doing

Man that does suck... Instead of buying a gc controller maybe see if a friend will give you one? I mean its not like anybody plays the ole cube much anymore.

I bought 2 of everything for our Wii on the day they went on sale, after my little 8 hour-camping trip at my local Walmart back in Nov. I wasn't sure what we'd actually use or not use, at the time, and so far I haven't touched the classic controllers.

Has anyone used theirs, and if so, why? Is there an advantage at any point?

Call of duty 3 is my game so far, and I can't imagine using anything but the remote/nunchuk combo to play this addicting, cursed game.

...but deadly for 12,000 years is Carbon 14.

Well, like me, I kind of sold all of my Gamecube stuff, so that I could get a Wii. I didn't realize at the time that I could use my Gamecube Controllers. I have a classic Controller, and use it to play the Virtual Console Games. It is really helpful when playing Super Mario 64, because I don't have a Gamecube Controller anymore.

I have to CC'c and use one fairly regulary just be cordless while playing any VC games. It was cheaper to buy 2 CC's than GC controllers. Never had a gamecube. Have since bought 1 GC controller to play GC games.
