Just a quick question. I have an internal DVD burner in my pc, and was wondering if there is some sort of external enclosure, like what the hard drives have, so that I can put it in and maybe connect through usb so I can burn on my laptop. Is this possible?

Yes, that is possible. However, make sure you don't get a cheap one, as it can lead to bad burns and other troubles. You can get the from places like NewEgg if you're in the USA or Misco if you're in the UK...

I don't know if it's still an issue, but I remember people having problems flashing firmware on drives in enclosures. That was 3-4 years ago so it may not be an issue any more. Of course the easy solution to this is to temporarily connect the drive as an internal drive to flash it and then put it back in the enclosure.

Yeah, I'd say it is reccomended to temp connect it internally when flashing, although I don't think it's such an isue anymore, especially if you have firewire.
