My motherboard is dead but my hd is fine and i have a full backup of all the drives on it. I have anthor xbox that is softmoded the same way is their a way to put the hd from my dead xbox into my working one. with the hd in it a error comes up or boots into a blamk screen. When i put the hd in and a hd installer disk the disk doesn't boot instead a error or blank screen comes up. both xboxs are older then 1.6 think my working one is version 1.4 and the dead one is 1.2

Simple. backup the data from the old HDD in xboxhdm, then clone the new HDD onto the old one. At which point the xbox will boot fine. Then FTP all the backup data back to the xbox.

Ok, the reason you are getting a error is because the drive you are trying to swap doesn't match the key on the motherboard. You will have to unlock the drive to access it. If you have a backup of the eeprom.bin or hdkey then you can use xboxhdmaker to unlock the drive, but if you don't then it is going to get complicated. If you don't have a backup of key or eeprom then you can get the hd password from eeprom chip on motherboard. However like I said it is fairly complicated, but here is a link to a tutorial on how to do so if you need it.

Like I said i have a complete backup of the C and E drives from the HD i want to put in. Is their a way to set the xbox to the HD eeprom (does the bios having anything to do with it?) or would do I have to find a way to acces the hd to change it.
