Like how to get my computer to static ip? How do I obtain dns numbers

I am going through a router so all I am getting when I go through start<run<CMD ipconfig / all

Thank you

Here are directions for setting a static ip address: http://portforward.com/networking/staticip.htm What do you mean that Azureuus won't let you?

Ok 1 question.

Since it is a dynamic ip how do I obtain the dns numbers on the router to imput this information in the Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) Properties

I want to use Azureus but it will not let me connect

My apologies if I'm wrong but I never heard of this problem so I'm assuming something is being entered wrong. When you go to Start and select Run, type in cmd or command (small letters) and press enter does a black box not appear where you type in ipconfig/all and press enter? Does this not show your ip address and DNS servers? BTW, your dynamic address may be fine, I've had a dynamic address for 3 years and its only needed to be reforwarded twice. And using utorrent, it's easy to tell with its speedguide feature. But, static addresses are great if you need them. Other than this, I don't know. Maybe disconnect the router and connect directly to the modem.

Yes

This showing example

ip address 192.168.1.101
Submask 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.1.1
DNS 192.168.15.1

With A dynamic IP doesnt the ip address or dns need to be different because I am going through a router

I have a linksys and trying to get this static. Do I enter the above numbers in the Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) Properties and enter the above information.

The above information is the router numbers as it looks

Your ip address doesn't need to be static unless after shutting down your computer for, say 5 minutes and then starting again, you have a new ip address. This would render any port forwarding useless and when a static ip is needed; some don't change like mine. 1 DNS is sufficient to make a static ip and Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) is where you add your info but make a note of the current settings in case you need to change back.

I have been reading about static ip for Azureus to work

So your saying if I input this in the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and the router it should work fine correct

In the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) there is nothing there. It says obtain ip automatically

Obtainining an ip address automatically is your computer getting a dynamic address. Unticking that and ticking use this address is setting a static ip address that your computer will use and you will forward in your router. There will be nothing there until you add info. This is really nothing to do with your router, it will have to be forwarded after this you set a static ip.
