What exactly does a memory card exploit do? does it allow you to play ps2 games without swap magic? kinda hard to see a point if you need something like swap magic to install it. Just wanted to know what exactly is it used for

The memory card exploit allows the execution of homebrew programs on a PlayStation 2. With the exploit installed, the user is able to run programs from memory cards, optical discs, network or USB flash drives. Popular programs (found in ELF executable format) include media players, memory card/hard disk management tools, emulators, and loaders (able to launch other programs).
