HELP- DVD FREEZE MY PC!!!

Bascally for the last couple of days whenver I insert a DVD, be it a mp3 or video file, when I try to open it it just does not respond and my PC does not respond neither! Ive had to re boot my pc a few times by switching it off then on again. Its not the actual DVD neither as ive tried different ones. Really strange too as I can still BURN dvds using Nero so I aint got a clue whats happening!

I can open video files thats on my hard drive no probs but when I try to open a file thats on disc its having none of it!

Any ideas??

Don't know much about the inner workings of DVD burners, but is it not different to burn then to read a disk? I remember having the opposit problem with mine, it would read but wouldn't burn properly.

One way to find out is to try your dvd burner in another pc if you have one lying around. That's what I did, that's how I knew I needed to purchase another one.

How do I get my dvd burner out? have u got any guides to show me how to change a dvd drive??

I don't think you need one, though you could easily Google it and find out yourself.

If you have an upright tower computer, just open you case, but before, make sure you have disconnected the power cord, then locate the dvd from the inside.

You will need a screwdriver to remove the screws. Disconnect the power cord and IDE cord (that's the wider thinner cord), and note them so you don't forget which one to use when you want to put your drive back in (though its not very hard to remember which is which).

And that's it, if you are using window xp, you don't need to worry about your system not recognizing your dvd burner. Just put it in any other computer that runs xp and test your drive to see if it works.
