Samsung YP-MT6 freezes at System-Loading 40% . HELP!

My Samsung YP-MT6 MP3 player all of a sudden doesn't want to load when you turn it on, it freezes at 40% while loading system files. It also doesn't register on my PC when I plug it into the USB. I receive a message that the Files are corrupted.

Ok I've checked the Samsung site about this and according to them the only solution is sending it in to be serviced.

So my question is... anyone out there have a fix for this since I'm in S. America and won't be in the States for another six months. I'd really appreciate any suggestions.

Should I try to upgrade the firmware?
