Hi guys I was wondering if you could help me.I have just replaced my old cd rom with a new dvd read/writer.Everything is working fine apart from when I play a video.The sound gos on and off all the time.The video is running at the correct speed,just the sound problem.Music cds are playing ok.I am a complete newbie at this.Could any body give me the heads up?.Thanks in advance guys.

Check your dvd drive is set at master on the jumpers. Also whilst doing that, check for dust in the connections or any loose cables. Further, check if the IDE cable (the one that connects the drive to motherboard) is not damaged.
