Hey guys, got a question for you. I'm trying to rip some DVDs I have, and everything seems to work out fine, the quality is okay (figure it'll get better as I get better at ripping) and I can hear the audio, and the audio matches up to the video.
However, while I'm watching it, if I move the seek bar to another point in the movie, suddenly the video is fine but I get no audio.
If I quit the movie viewer (media player or winamp both do this) then I get audio back...until I move the seek bar.

Anyone had this happen to them?

Any help would be great!

Thanks,
BIN

Try using a better player like WinDVD. What isyour system spec as when you do thissome slower systems can take a bit to catch up, though usually its audio then video.

Which codec are you using to compress the movie and what settings do you use?

hey guys, thanks for the replies.

It seems to happen in whichever player I use, which is why I suspect I may be doing something wrong. My system isn't brand new, but it is fairly high-end (dual proc, SCSI ultra-2 10k).
I'm using DivX 5 pro and I'm following the guide/tutorial from this website since I'm a bit new at this.
I've waited to see if the video catches up, but it doesn't happen. It seems to happen every time I try to rip DVDs, I've tried 3 times with 2 DVDs.
How frustrating.

Which guide are you using?

Did you follow each step exactly or did you modify any of them.

I followed them exactly, except for the subtitles, which I didn't need.

The guide starts here:

Ok, if you followed everything on the guide exactly then maybe the problem could be with the audio codec your using.

Download AC3Filter and use this to decode the audio file of the movie.

If this doesnt help then I suggest converting your AC3 audio file to mp3 and mux that with the movie, then see if you still have the problem.

You can use Besweet for this which im sure came with the gknot rippack. Here's a couple of guides by the creator besweet that will help you not only for the AC3 to mp3 process but for others you might want to try out.

Good Luck.

Well that totally worked.

All I did was download that new AC3 filter, and now I'm friggin' all set.

Thanks so much, Powerdup!
