HELP Dvd Drive shows 0bytes on 1.5gb dvd-rw disc?!!

Sorry if this is allready posted somewhere else, i got tired of searching google and aftadawn forums.
So i was feeling nice and happy hap after finishing a very hot and exhausting day at work.
I had made a 5minute video with my Panisonic VDR-D150 Multi-Format DVD Video Camera, using sony DVD-RW 1.4GB disc.
I would finalize my video on my dvd camera and insert it into my DVD drive, where i would add various titles transitions and other stuff, using Windows movie maker.
I have done this plenty of times, and i have the videos on youtube to prove it.
For some stupid *bleep* reason, my day was ruined, because i inserted it into my drive and it came up with....
Free Space: 0 bytes
Total Size:0 bytes
Now this has upset and stressed me out,
So, i figured it has somthing to do with the media, so i went to Noelemings to get some of the same media ( cause thats all they had) 1.4gb sony DVD-RW discs..
I tried the brand new dvd-rws by creating another 5minute video using my panisonc dvd cam,
this time i didnt finalize my video and inseted it into my dvd drive, it showed it had about 1gb of data on the disc, but had no files, ( this is normal, the files would usually show after finalizing)
So i put the disc back into my cam to finalize, after that it was back in my drive with 0 bytes.
I cant understand why it would do this, i have not changed or alterd any settings on my cpu or my camera,
I have no other way to get my videos from my dvd camera to my pc, and now i wont to break somthing, and my old dv cam has experienced my wrath before,
someone please help me :( i have nothing else to do but make videos

Try this:
On your PC, go into your Device Manager, and find your burner. Right click on it, and choose "Uninstall". After it uninstalls, reboot, and let Windows detect new hardware, and install a new driver for you. Your old one may have gotten corrupted somehow.
Also, go here: http://codeguys.rpc1.org/firmwares.html and see if there's a firmware upgrade for your burner.

Thanks alot,
before you replied i ended up using isobuster to extract the files from the dvd, but seeings it was an unregistored program , i could only do it the one time ( but it worked )
I uninstalled my drive and reinstalled it with a updated driver, its working fine thankyou very much.
Very appreciated :)

You mean this thread, since you got an answer that worked for you?
If so, you don't DO anything with it.
Others will come along and read it, and maybe learn something new. Someone with a similar problem may do a search, and find this thread, and it may help them too. Don't worry about it...........

Sorry to bump an old thread,but I fiqure i'd post in the same topic here since im having a simliar problem now;I have a HP DVDwriter 840b and i've been able to burn dvds without a problem,but lately when i've put in the blank dvd it would not read and it would show up as
Free Space : 0
Total Size: 0 bytes
I looked at the solution that was given ,but it did not work for me somehow.Anyhelp would be appreciated since im trying to back up some files.

Check HP's site, and see if there is a firmware upgrade for your drive.

I did what you said,but for some reason it still reads as 0 for both Free Space and what not.This is a frustrating situation.

Sorry for the double post:
Dunno if this helps in solving my dilemma: 
Its like....when I insert the dvd into the drive it hangs and then it takes to long to load it;then the drive tells me theres no free space when there actually is because its a blank dvd.
Im trying Maxell DVD-R and the memorex brands;they have never given me trouble when backing up my files,but I don't think the problem is dvd related.
Rather something drive related though I have no clue how to solve it.I've tried the methods discussed,updated my firmware,but still no go.

Sorry, I don't know what else to tell you, except that it may be time for a new drive.

No problem its ok.

See the little icon, by the upper right corner of the last post you made? Click on it. Then edit out your serial #............ It starts with 1A23-xxxx-, before someone copies it and uses it.
