Burned DVD+R not working in players. Why?

I have managed to burn movies onto my DVD+R disk. They can be put in my computer and they start playing the movie. When I put them in a DVD player it gives me a error message on the player. Can any one tell me why this is?

Could be a few things.

The player might not accept the +R format or it doesn't like the media you are using.

Could also be the file format.

So what brand of media are you using? Burn speed? Does the player accept +R format?

Are these original dvd back up's or downloaded files?
What program(s) did you use?

If the burner has booktyping capabilities - booktype the +R to dvd-rom.

What's the make and model of the burner? Firmware up to date?
