I have a feeling that this may not be possible, but need to ask none the less.

I want to create a library of all my movies or at least the favorites. Primary playback will be on my 42". There are a few wrinkles, that I think are making what I want not possible.

Wrinkles:
I am wanting to play through my xbox360. I have been able to play a little home movie clip so I know it work. I belive the 360 can only play WMV files via stream. I have some of the on the fly converters, to convert from DivX or AVI to WMV to solve this.

The other, is I want to be able to be able to burn my backups. I may not be going to back to disk all that often, but I would prefer to not have to go through another several hours of encoding and loss of quality to get them on a disk again.

And also, i dont want to have terabytes in order to have two versions of a backup. So size is a concern. Would like to keep them to the standard dvd sizes.

Not looking to be completely spoon fed here. But need a little direction, or would like to be told if I need to figure something else out.
