Hi all,
In the past I have been able to burn to dvd with no hassle, and all of a sudden recently I can't do one. I have followed your instructions to other users on the same problem and so far I have been unable to rectify my probs, I have uninstalled, reinstalled, changed media, changed software etc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Here is a copy of the error file.

It looks like there may be a newer firmware for the drive, have you checked for that?

Yes your firmware can use any update - you're 3 versions behind. The latest is A106. Here's a link.
Give the suggestions a go and let us know.

PS I was going to try to update the firmware the other day but I got a bit worried when it said.
These pages are only for advanced users. Bad flashing could destroy your drive definitively. Read carefully the installation notes of your firmware before you upgrade. The Firmware Page and the drive manufacturer can't be responsable on REMEMBER: This is at your own risk!!!!
Seeing that I am still learning I didnt feel to confident to continue. Any advice on what to do would be GR8.

OOPS I forgot to attach the error file sorry, here it is 1st Nero after Roxiozap and 2nd Shrink 3.2 after Roxiozap as well. Not that there will be much difference seeing as Shrink uses Nero as the burning tool but if it helps what the hell.

Hi all,
I had a few beers for courage and took the plundge and updated the drivers it wasn't that hard after all. Yeah Yeah I know I got scared lol, But unfortunatly still unable to burn.
Any other suggestions.

What other media have you tried besides the TDK's?
Try cleaning the lens of the drive - either by blowing some compressed air or with a dvd lens cleaner. A dirty lens can be one cause of the no seek complete error you're getting.
Check you hard drive too and see if it's in DMA mode - looks it's connected by a raid controller and Nero doesn't report those correctly.
Here's a guide for ide controllers but it will get you in the right direction.

Hi Binkie7,
I have used many different types of Media TDK, Sony, Muller, and other Cheap ones and never had a problem, thats why I bought TDK after having trouble, because I had used them on numerous occasions before and never had a problem.
I checked the DMA mode they were fine on both Primary and Secondary.
I will try cleaning the lense and see how that goes.

Hopefully that will do the trick :)
Dust/Dirt that we don't see collects on the lens and this might just be causing the problem.
If not try uninstalling the drive in device manager rebooting and let windows do it's thing and reinstall.
Sometimes you have to watch the media like the TDK's you are using - you never know who you will get. I haven't had a problem w/ TDK made by themselves but I've only used 10 - 8x's. I mainly use Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim.
Anything else change pc since you were last able to burn?

Anyone know why the 6.3.1.4 shows up when NeroBurning ROM is used?

Thx for the reply, Unfortunately I live in a fairly small country town where the selection of blank DVDs is shall we say slim pickings,lol & Theses TDK have always worked in the past, as the saying goes go with what u know. I will give the drive a good old clean out and see how it goes, then try your other suggestion about uninstalling the drive. Could it just be my burner has burn't its last disk?

You raise a good point about why the 6.3.1.4 appears I don't know why this is considering I ran the Nero Cleaning Tool and yes I have tried other files thats just one I had sitting @ the computer. Here is a log file from a different compilation.

If it is I don't know why all of a sudden it has a problem with DVD-R when thats all I have ever used.

Clean off the lens of the burner and see how that goes.
Still getting the no seek complete error - another possible cause is the power. So might want to try making sure the power connection (all actually) is secure. Try another power connector too.
Drive mightbe going but best to rule out all possibilities.
