I have been thinking about buying a Nintendo Wii. Although reading around the topic on "Nintendo Wii" some fans and gamers seem to think that the Wii is awesome, and some think its a bore after 30mins. I have only seen one (TV) and heard about them i dont know anyone who owns one near me, so that i can try it out so i would like some true advise mabe from a TRUE Nintendo Wii fan that can actually tell me that they are worth £180 and that i am not wasting my time. From what i have seen and heard i can say they seem to be a good console but in my eyes it appeals to children and someone who has never picked a controller before... if i cant decide i will be buying a Xbox 360.
All help will be appreciated.

Yes Id say its worth it let me explain.
Gameplay:
10/10
Remba all those videos about the remote and they looked all made up n the mote looked gimicky well it does all those things and saying 30mins isnt really the time its fun actually its about 2 hours for the packed in game single player but trust me the dialy fitness test will make you want to play it for 10min a day until you throw the wii away but wii Sports on multiplayer will give countless hours even days of fun versing your friends, but if you talk about a game like zelda that game will give you aprx 40+hours of staright gameplay and its a geat game with good graphics,The VC (Virtual Console) Will keep you having fun playing all the N64 games n snes, nes, turbo grafx etc.etc for as little as $5 each
Graphics
9/10
Well they arent ps3 but they are a lot more then the 6th gen consoles itas not showing but it will in 4 -6 months when big tittles come like Metroid Prime 3 which will show that the wii isnt as weak as said I mean it still clocks at 343mhz the gpu whihc isnt weak consedering the 360 does 500mhz more but not alot.
Overall:
Its worth buying it it does everything said it has a web browser, email edditor,Mp3 playback via photo channel with Sd cards,MJPEG video playback, massive backward compatibility
they even pack in a game but I recommend buying zelda as Wii sports isnt as good pl;ayign singkle player buying zelda will keep you in the wii for days.
Hope Ive helped!
Im going to say im not tricking you since you might think so I won

shhhhh!
LOL!
I really Never thought of getting the 360 or originbal I had a 360 for a month and I didnt get imppressed by it to me it felt like a normal console nothing really new so i didnt feel like getting it.
The original was a different story it cam eout in 02 here so did the GCN i already had a ps2 since the previous xmas 01 i was going to eb to buy a Xbox and Project GOtham but came home with a Gamecube,Luigis Mansion and Super Mario Sunsine because while I was there I saw Xbox has 90% the same games as the ps2 while gamecube ahs all mario games that are only on it so I figurd ill buy this and 2 games and still save 150au and I never regret it for some reason.

I'm new to the site here, but I've had a Wii since Christmas. It's the only console I've ever owned, but I like it for many reasons:
1. It was inexpensive compared to the other new consoles.
2. The remote/nunchuk combo is user friendly and makes certain games alot more fun than the same games I've played on PS2.
3. The console is small.
4. The kit came with a free game (Wii Sports), which was fun enough to make me want to go buy more games.
5. The graphics, while maybe not HD, are much better than I expected, and better than PS2. The audio is very good as well.
Here is why I don't like my Wii:
1. The games are $50 US, at the store.
2. The nunchuk interactive features get stuck in Call of Duty 3 sometimes....when trying to pull the fuse on an explosive charge. And then once I pull the fuse and normal play resumes, I am sometimes unable to turn or aim for several seconds, which results in me getting KIA.
3. I bought 2 Gamecube games, Madden NFL 04, and Open Season. Neither would play on our Wii. Madden kept saying that I needed to insert a memory card (I had a 1GB SD card installed) and click 'A' to resume. The game was frozen at that point and clicking 'A' or any other button did nothing. Resetting the game, turning off power, etc. did not change my results even after a dozen tries. Open Season did get me to the screen where it looked like I would be allowed to play, but the screen froze on that game too. I'd had enough and returned both games to the store. I will stick with Wii games to be on the safe, but expensive side.
My recommendation is to buy a Wii, unless you just like the traditional type of controllers that other games offer and have the kind of money to cover the costs of owning an X360 or PS3. It's your money, so go with your gut instincts.
...but deadly for 12,000 years is Carbon 14.

I thought it was suppose to be backwards compatable with GameCube games.
That sucks that they don't work on it.

If you use a GC game then you will need a GC memory card.and a GC controller.
Did you have that in the slots?
The wiii is backwards competiblei own one and all GC games works on mine perfect. super mario sunshine and supersmash bros and nba street volume 1 work perfect.the wii is 100% backwards competible.

Ummm... you said you had an SD card installed but the GC games need a GC memory card and GC controller to be fully compatible.

You guys can be interested in buying one all you want. The hard part is finding one. I was just in the right place at the right time when I bought mine. I originally got mine for a buddy as I knew he was looking for one. I gave him a week and he didn't come up with the loot ,so I cracked the box open and have been enjoying the Wii ever since. Just the possibility of playing almost the entire old Nintendo Catalogue is worth it. Good luck man and Godspeed.
