After ripping a movie with DVD Decrypter and then trying to write with Instant Copy, I get the message "CSS Protection, Can't Write From Hardrive", with some movies. Can anyone explain how to get round this?

Did you deselect decrypt by mistake? Meaning are the files on your harddrive still encrypted?
If so then SmartRipper will work on those files for you to decrypt them. Then you can burn'em.

Default settings only used. Yes I tried Smart Ripper, but still got an error. Can't remember what it was. I'll try it again.

Turpy, i had that message ages ago and what I do is use DVD Decrypter to rip, dvd20ne to encode and recordnow dx to burn. I found i had the css protection message when i tried to burn to dvd straight after using DVD Decrypter. (stella and computers dont mix)

CSS Is The U.S. standard copy protection. If you are using DVD Decryptor go to tools/settings and enable crack CSS Brute Force. The VOB Files you then create will not have protection and can then be used in clone DVD. You may still need a VOB shrinking utility if the original film was made on a dual layer disk. If you get stuck email me at markeblackwell@hotmail.com but please don't take the piss.

smiler123, have you heard of spam bots?
As for CSS decryption problems, use AnyDVD because it decrypts on-the-fly allowing any ripping/backup program to access straight from the disc saving HD space.
Its the simplist way!!

DVD Decrypter has a major inconvenience. You cannot watch the result from your harddisc. I dumped it and started using DVD Shrink. Perfect! I made copies with Nero and Instant Copy without any error report! Anybody having a problem like Instant Copy crashing the system?

There is no problem so big, that a brick placed against the proper skull cannot fix =)

As i say again, its not an American thing - its DVD's as a whole par say the DVD makers!
Also, DVD Decrypter is not useless and you should be able to play it no problem from your hard drive. Simply open the VIDEO_TS.IFo file with WinDVD or something.
