Do you all think nintendo will be smart enough to release a HD-DVD or dvd player for the wii? you might be able to connect it at the usb port.why does the wii have two usb ports? one should be for the usb-ethernet but the other?
I hope nintendo does this.

I don't understand why you would want this, it would be easier (and probably cheaper) to just connect a DVD player to your TV.

There were roumours and Reggie hinted on ti a few months back I opend a thread om it,it must be a few pages back.
But anyway They do have the choice of adding a HD-DVD to the next version but they'd have to leave the current version and add like a pro system whihc includes it like what sony n microsoft are doing this way it Will NOT sacrifice their sales as people have a choice,a couple of more things the Gpu would be fine running @ 343mhz processing HD videos but im worried about the Broadway cpu it migh just run it but might not that also could get fixed by adding a smaller cpu something like maybe another 500-600mhz maybe giving it 2 broadways whihc wouldnt add more then 50us but overall it would get more expensive to finnish it off they should maybe add a etherenet port and upgrade to maybe 1gb memory
but for that youd expect to pay id say 350-400us
its all junk you dont need especially in a console just go out and buy a DVD player they are like 28au for cheap ones and sony ones go at 120au or buy a HD-DVD player or Blu-ray

An HD-DVD player cost over $300 US.Nintendo should just do what xbox did with the external HD-DVD player.I don't think Nintendo will release a newer version with a dvd player for more money. It would'nt be fare for those who bought one at launch. There might be a firmware update.now that would be great.

But the Wii does not have HD resolutions and I beleive will never be capable of it, so a new Wii with HD-DVD and better video output would be necessary.
I still don't get why so many people say the Wii should have a DVD player, I (and would bet most out there have similar items) already have way to many things capable of playing DVD's, my PC, my stand alone player, my laptop, there's no need for another DVD player. That would have been wasted time and money to incorporate one.

Agreed. I wouldn't buy one if it cost one cent more.

I think it would easily support at all they have to do is add 1080p support on full motion pictures.

I'd be happy if they just added 720p support, not sure that the chip is good enough on its own, maybe more memory would help, but this is now getting to the point of them needing a new Wii not updating the first version.
