Well i decided to write this tutorial because of problems people have had with photoshop and importing photo's into idvd imovie and iphoto

issues that have come to my attention are as follows

blank image previews in iphoto

blank images in idvd

blank images in imovie

this tutorial is how to deal with these and a great way to check the pictures so they function so lets begin

what you will need:

1. photoshop (elements,cs,cs2,cs3beta,7.0)

2. ilife 06 or ilife 05 (iphoto 6 can be installed on any mac garageband cannot)

3. the latest system updats for ilife 06/05

well here is what occurs iphoto has issues with reading the jpeg format in ilife o6 application's that adobe uses this is not a really big problem but creates a small issue when importing the files into iphoto most of the images show up black now you may think the image isn't there or didn't download correctly well not true for some reason adobe photoshop's format causes the picture to be displayed in a black preview window
but when you select the preview of the image manually by clicking the black image the image will display correctly so the only issue is that you have to remember the software is not at fault and it isn't your fault eaither

but when you want to make sure the pictures work correctly immediatly after importing the pictures into iphoto select slideshow do not select anything else after importing just click slideshow then click the slide show that was just created and select preview you will notice all your photos are functional

choose your music

now once that is done choose export to and have it export the file to quicktime then after the file for quicktime is finished run imovie then copy the video into the imovie screen by drag and drop once the video iis listed in imovie have i movie export it to idvd this is where you can add dvd menus to your photo cd now even though you can do all of this if before you import the new video into idvd from imovie but you want to add chapters first in imovie select the option called chapters then you can take multiple videos and place them in each individual chapter then import it to idvd and add menus

and that is about it
