FTP connection stability

Does anyone have problem with unstable ftp connection? I am connecting to my xbox through a switch. And, no I am not using static IP addresses. When I chose static ip address on my PC, I could not access internet, so I decided not to use the static ip unlike alot of tutorials say. Instead, I enabled the static ip address on evox and changed the ip address and default gateway address so xbox will be in my network domain. I am getting about 4 to 6 mbps this way. My only problem is that it frequently disconnects from xbox and I need to reboot xbox to ftp into xbox. Considering the network is pretty fast, it is not that big of a deal, but it is still annoying. Does anyone have any better solution to this problem?
