thats how you hack a console not with stupid softmods. still cant help but think nintendo can disable that chip, it looks as though information can be sent back to it, so if a firmware comes out and then that dont work its because nintendo flashed it.

Dont have time to watch it but one thing to all if it says Wii Bootloader Its fake.
I Will gurnatee it 101%.
Yes nintendo can screw homebrew with updates so ti will be much harder and I also think soft mods will last hacked for longer then hardmods since hard Mods actually are flashed so if N finds about it they can include a flash included in the next firmware so if you have it it will disable the chip but you can prevent it by unplugging the net but some of the major updates might temp you to connect if like an Mp3 channel comes maybe USB support.
You all know what I mean

i think the chip will not owrk once nintendo updates the console because if you look at the picture of the chip attached it is connected to the eprom of the dvd drive meaning that if nintendo releases a firmware update that updates the cd drive eprom then you are totally out of luck because it will just update the eprom which will disable the chip and make the chip worthless
not very impressed that the hack also requires you to take your console apart like you wouldn't beleive worse getting the console back together also even worse finding the flash to flash the chip with and i bet it can only be hacked with linux because all tools have been linux based

also i hate to burst your bubble you cannot play imports read the chip requirements it says own region only meaning even if you install this chip you cannot play imports still
and i also dont beleive this video because this video shows him imputing dvd r disks into the wii and even if the chip work to boot games which it doesn't the wii would not reconize the dvd r disk this hole thing is garbage

That is just stupid tabletpc why?
Well practiaclly for every reason but the proof that what you said is wrong A gamecube isnt intentially meant to read Dvd r;s but once the modchip is in it reads them why? Because the disc is the Same properity as a DVD disk except read backwards if it does have a modchip then it will READ DVD-R or +R or +/- DL DVD's because wii discs are DVD's that have been formated back to front burt a modchip can change that a modchip tells the drive to erad the disc the other way whihc is why the gamecube plays Mini DVD'R and with a case mod Normal DVD-R's.

What's the point?
Seems like some people have way too much time on their hands.

exactly what is the point
if you cannot play imports download vc games for free or use a emulator on the console then the chip is worthless and worse nintendo as started to go after anyone who hosts bittorrent links to wii games on the internet so have fun trying to find the backup you need

bigger companies than nintendo have gone after torrent sites - and there put back up after a week
and anyways torrents are poor - no one can shut down the newsgroup networks

Well that didn't quite answer my question of What's The Point.
Torrent sites, newsgroups....I have no idea what that is. Seems to be a lot easier to just go buy the games you want and have fun. What more do you need?
BTW, do any of you guys work? ;)

the point? it saves money. why spend 50+ a game when its free on torrents or when u borrow a game then cop it. Not everyone cares that much about supporting the game companies or have money to blow on games. its not that i encourage modding im just stating the point.
PS3...it only does everything(that Sony allows it to)

So how would you make a backup? I thought the wii spins stuff backwards.

How do you backup a Gamecube game?Exactly!,The Wii can read a dsic correctyl but its setup to recicve data from Outside to the core of the disc instead of versa but the chip makes it skip the security check and tells it to read the other way (Normal Drive way Inside to outside)
The Wii does not spin stuff backwards this is a "Myth" started when it was known that the gamecube reads the opposite way around 2002 and ever since people have been confused about whihc opposite they thinkl it spins opposite way?No it spins the same way the laser just starts reading on the outside of the disc and come towrds the inside.
Where is the proof that this "Myth" Is BS when the gamecube is turned off after being on quicly open the disc cover you will clearly see the disc spin clockwise (The way all other drives spin).

Why worry about updates once you can back up games, no need to keep the updates going until the firmware and new games no longer allow it, if they are even going to run some sort of DRM. Just turn off the Wiiconnect24 update feature and you won't be downloading from the shop channel anymore etc.
