Addtional DVD subtitle sychronisation problem

Evening folks,

I have an original DVD (The Matrix), and I have downloaded a .srt subtitle file to watch the film with Spanish subtitles.

I have played the movie with Media Player Classic v.6.4.8.9, and the subtitles work, but they are out of sync with the movie. I also tried VLC Media Player, to no avail. The 6th subtitle option appears, but when I select it nothing appears.

This is very frustrating! Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
