I bought 2 of everything for our Wii, and only bought the old-fashioned controller because I thought it was necessary for the Gamecube games, which I now know to be false.

Does anyone use the old controller? I think I'll ebay mine because I sure don't see a benefit over the remote/nunchuk combo.

Also, i need to buy a GC controller for playing GC games. Any recommendations on which version to buy?

...but deadly for 12,000 years is Carbon 14.

Get the wireless wavebird, no cables to clutter up the floor.

whats this wireless wavebird thing? I just bought a new gamecube controller to go with my Wii. Is the wavebird controller compatible with the Wii?

Is there any need at all to buy a "wii classic controller" ...seeing that you can use a gamecube controller instead?

Thanks all

I definitely recommend the Wavebird wireless controller. It is fully compatible with the Wii. I used it back with my Gamecube and I use it now to play virtual console games and old Gamecube games on my Wii. The downside is that brand new ones are still 34.99. If you can find a Gamestop or EB Games that has a used one, you could get it for half the price possibly.

The gamecube controllers are always going to work with the Nintendo games,VC or Gamecube, it's the 3rd party games that have odd button configurations that required them to build the Classic Controller. If a person knows that they will never play any third party games then you won't need to buy the Classic Controller.

The wave bird has an antenna that is plugged into the Gamecube port area on the Wii just like the regular controller does, but it doesn't have any wires attached, which makes gaming much nicer.

Wish I had bought a wavebird earlier, my kids were playing and my 3 yr old got caught up in the controller wire and pulled the Wii of the shelf, luckily both were OK.
