Well....I thought the upgrade path to 16x burning thru LiteOn would be a simple one. But...it seems these drives are not compatible with AnyDVD...or AnyDVD doesn't recognize the drive in some fashion.

DVDShrink will read the disk fine, it will even tell you there's no encryption during the analysis. But, as soon as I click on Backup, it gives me this error:

make sure your AnyDVD is uptodate! version 6.1.1.3 has corrected the error that some drives can't be recognized! and now there is another update to version 6.1.1.4! read what version 6.1.1.3 fixed:

unless your AnyDVD is a cracked version I would update to the new versions and enjoy!

Thanks bud. I got word from the SlySoft forum that there's a bug in the firmware for these drives that's causing the problem. I'll update to the 6.1.1.4 version and see if it helps solve the problem.

That is a real shame. I love mine but it is a little older model. I works fine with AnyDVD.

I hear that...I just put the older 1693S in a USB enclosure...and use it for extracting movie files.
