I'm looking to buy a dual layer DVD burner for under $200 to make backups for my movies. I hear that Plextor is reliable. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Here is a very good burner. I have a LiteOn, and like it a lot! It does a very good job.

Good luck!

I would like to jump in on this discussion as I also am in the market for a new burner. What does anyone think of the LG Electronics GSA-H10L 16x Internal Super Multi DVD / CD Rewriter? How does it compare?

I have no experience with LG burners. I've only had LiteOn, and I know they are good........ :o)
Maybe someone else will chime in.

My Plextor 716-A has been very reliable. So much so that I haven't bought the new 760! Besides I don't burn at full speed anyway preferrng to do DVD's at 8x & CDR's at 32x.

You can see specs of both drives at the www.plextor.com site.

I purchased the 760 and am so far quite impressed--apparently, it automatically adjusts burning speeds for optimum performance depending on disk quality...........not a single coaster after more than a dozen burns, including DL burns. Tks for the response.........
