pinnacle instant cd/dvd and hitachi dvdcam

I installed my hitachi 380 dvdcam with no problems, am able to capture footage from cam and edit with ulead videostudio and burn it to dvd with pioneer a06 with no problems at all. The problems started when installing "pinnacle instant cd/dvd", the program itself works fine, successful with burning dvd's after using dvd decrypter. But my camera will no longer capture, everything just freezes no matter which video editing software i use. I then uninstalled pinnacle and reinstalled the camera drivers and the camera captures perfectly again. Could someone please explain why pinnacle conflicts with my cam and what i can do to fix it. Any advice here would be greatly appreciated as I am pulling my hair out!
