I've managed to use rempeg, to resize VOB files to an m2v file, and remux that m2v stream back into VOB files, and then burn the resulting VIDEO_TS directory using RecordNowDX and a Pioneer A04. This works in my standalone DVD player. I've now converted 6 AVI clips into MPEG2 using tmpegenc using the DVD-PAL setting, and just changing to VBR 2-pass, 3000Kbps. I used SpruceUp to author the DVD - the resulting VIDEO_TS directory contains the VOB files, IFOs, BUPS etc. This plays on a software player, but when burnt using RecordNowDX the same as above, it does not work on my standalone. Any ideas why before I make another frisbee? (I've successfully written a SVCD with a menu, but I was wondering if maybe the menu I made in SpruceUp is not liked by my DVD player?)

Just in case anyone reads this - I started using ULead MovieFactory as that doesn't re-encode the mpeg files, and that did not suffer from the same problem. I also tried ULead DVD Workshop, but that tried to re-encode them, so it looks as if MovieFactory is better.
