I am trying to set the booktype of a DVD+R to DVD-ROM on my Asus DRW-1608.
I have heard that this drive is a relabel of a Pioneer model(110?).

Using Nero there is no option for booktyping, using DvdInfoPro it says that "It seems your drive does not support bitsetting."

I am using the latest firmware (1.41) from Asus.

Another thing I have seen is that the Asus firmware (at least 1.17) automatically booktypes +R to -ROM, but I don't have any desire to make coasters trying to find out.

Thank you,

Your drive automatically bitsets +R DL discs, but it does not appear to do SL discs.

It is also known as the Pioneer DVR-110D
It is internal.

Might I need to use the buffalo firmware?

Trying to flash 1.41 Asus -> 8.39 Buffalo firmware I got "An available target is not found" message. Trying other versions I have come to the conclusion that I cannot use the Buffalo firmware with my drive because they are built to look for a Pioneer and my drive is calling itself an Asus.

Any ideas?

Just answered my own questions,
Buffalo works wonderfully.
