Whenever I plug my external hard drive into the power and start it up instead of the disk spinning to load it starts to spin and then clicks. Eventually it gives up and i cant acess any of my files.

if possible, try the drive out of enclosure & put into tower to see if does same thing. good possibilty drive might be gone.
