I'm really new to the whole mod chip idea so please excuse my very basic knowledge. I understand that once you solder the mod chip into the wii you will be able to play burned copies of GameCube and wii games. I've heard that it takes 50 hours to brurn game but I have seen ISO files for the wii at different places on the Internet. Is it kind of like burning DVD where once you have the ISO file you burn it to DVD, and it should play on the wii if you have installed the mod chip correctly? also I've heard a lot about Nintendo updating their firmware. If I do not intend to connect my wii to the Internet at any time then I should be able to play copied wii games, even ones that come out a year or two from now. The chip, I am thinking about buying is the cyclowiz as long as it is proven to work, Is there any point in waiting an updated version ?
wait until they release a better chip right now the chip on the wii is selective on which consoles it can be installed on because of a change in chipset
What about backing up the games? I see a lot of places on the Internet where you can download the game file through a torrent. So I downloaded the special software required to download the game file. But when I clicked on the folder after downloading it, all that is in the folder is a bunch of.RAR files. What do I do next? Thanks a lot for your help. By the way i was using isohunt.com, is there another site that anyone would like to recommend?
if you open up a random RAR file (using WinRAR) you'll see it should have something like --> or <- next to it. the actual usable file is either located in the first or last of the rar files (it DOESN'T have the arrows after it). extract this file, probably an ISO. now I'm not sure about burning Wii ISO's because I haven't done it yet, but getting cyclowiz soon.
so from this, someone should be able to tell us both. can you use a programme like DVD Decrypter to burn this and do you need a special drive because I know a special drive is need to rip ISO's but don't know about burning.
I have decided to try and download some wii ISOs, so that when I do put my mod chip in my wii I'll have a few disk to try. Please keep in mind that I'm really new to this. So far I'm using bit torrent, along with utorrent to try and download my Iso files. When you start downloading the torrent, and it ask you to select what files you wish to download. To make a copy of the game Would I only need to download the RAR file and then in theory, extract the iso file from that and then burn the iso file to a DVD?
actually wheelstb you're wrong. You always have to start out with the first file in a rar'd archive. With rar files they are compressed into several rar file chunks. The "actual usable" file is all of the rar files combined and extracted. You have to extract it using WinRAR and start out by opening the first file in the archive. If your files have extensions like .r01 .r02 .r03 then the first file is the one with the extension .rar. If your files are numbered .001 .002 .003 ect. then the first file would .001.
As far as buring wii backups, I've burned over 20 ISO's with Nero and they all work on my wiinja modded wii.
Also how should he take to download the entire torrent? it's looking like it's going to take me a day plus with broadband Internet. I just don't want to invest all that time, and realize I get it all wrong.
