Problem w/ converting avi to mpeg2 for DVD-r

I am trying to put some anime that I have on my PC onto DVD-r. It is good quality to I though it would go well on DVD-r. I used TMPGenc Plus to re-encode it and then TMPGenc DVD author to convert to VOB. The problem is that there is no sound. Even when I play the mpeg2 file on my pc there is no sound. could some on help me w/ this please?
