Are there any methods of using a softmod to play backups yet? I don't want to open up my precious Wii just yet.

Or hacked firmware, for that matter? I would much rather have hacked firmware or some kind of exploit(like with the picture viewer in the PlayStation Portable) than install a chip when I get my Wii(have had no luck getting one).

To design a software hack you need to know both a security flaw, and how to run custom code... we know neither.

Mod chips are way to force a system to do what we want and less time consuming to develop.
