Emerson DVD/VCR Combo Problem

Hi. I am so glad to have found this site; just wish I had found it last summer. It was then that a member who had a EWR20V4 model, I believe, was having problems with the DVD not recording on new disks which previously had not caused a problem.
I have a EWR20V5 model a little older than the one they had and it, too, no longer will record on new disks which previously had not given me any problems. My warranty had just expired when this problem developed. If the person I am referring to by chance reads this thread, I would appreciate finding out if they ever found a solution.
I used to think Emerson products were great;I no longer have respect for the company's products and the company does not seem to care about those who purchase their products.
