I have been burning for a while I use dvd fab, DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink, any dvd, clone dvd, and none of these will work for me the new movies, like saw3, curious george, they messed up my dvd burner, when I tried to burn saw 3 it froze my computer and kept repeating the same error message over and over and making a buzzing sound, I am afraid to try any new movies, I know it is the new codes they have on them, is any one else having the same problems and if so what can I do. Use simple directions computer language is new to me.
thanks to anyone who can help. Tam

Tools I used and highly recommend:

DVDFab Decrypter
RipIt4Me
DVD Decrypter
DVD Shrink
ImgBurn
FixVTS and VobBlanker

Have a look at some FREE guides here http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/A_F_Guides.html (Featuring guides by alkohol & fasfrank: it will help you to install, rip and backup any DVD successfully; guides including DVD Shrink, DVDFab Decrypter 3080, RipIt4Me 1690, DVD Decrypter, ImgBurn, VobBlanker & FixVTS).

As for newbie, I recommend you to rip with the latest DVDFab Decrypter 3080 (simply because it's more faster and easier), then try to "open files" via DVD Shrink and transcode. If for some reason DVD Shrink is choking (can not continue), then you'll need to process and clean your already ripped files (VOB, VTS) through FixVTS or (VIDEO_TS.IFO) through VobBlanker.

If you don't want to use DVDFab Decrypter, simply rip with RipIt4Me (it is unstoppable, but just a little longer that's all). Follow this RipIt4Me guide here http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/Guides/alkohol_guide2.html

Best of luck and enjoy them FREE guides!!

WARNING: Do not "update/upgrade" your SAMSUNG BD-D5XXX series (Bluray Player), or else you cant enjoy any of your movie files.

purwitt, alkohol gave you some great tools to backup the new movies a few other thing that you might try is

1. make sure your using the latest verison or CloneDVD 2(2.9.0.3)+ anydvd(6.1.1.4) and the newer movies that give you problems try just doing the movie only that solves alot of problems.

i never have problems backing up newer movies with CloneDVD 2 + anydvd

2. make sure you have the latest firmware on your drive/burner .check here

http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_all.php

3. make sure your burnin on a clean machine as in doing a disc cleanup and defragging often (at least once a week)

4. make sure your drives are in DMA mode and NOT in PIO mode. you can check that in device manager.

5. or try uninstalling and doing a clean reinstall of your burning software too.

good luck and happy burning~~

heres antoher good guide also
