A new beta version of DVD Shrink is now available which purports to correct the difficulties in re-authoring mode. You can get it from here: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=59570

What do you think of it?
This is actually an update of the beta version from a few weeks ago (DVD Shrink 3.0 beta 5)

Im trying it out at the minute. I do know that 3 out of 7 copies done on Beta 1 have resulted in no sound, all done in Re-author mode. Was this one of the problems noticed?

Yeah, but me too, but i have a THX certified machine, so it should and does play DTS. I think ill stick to the AC3 for now though. I also wasted 24 discs creating episodes with DVD Shrink. Beta 5 has corrected a fault that caused the second, third and so on episodes not play on a re-authored disc.

i've noticed when using beta 5 that the video skips on my Panasonic stand alone dvd player during the first few chapters. However, I don't have this problem when i play the same backup copy on my toshiba. when I use DVDShrink ver. 2.3 the movies don't skip on my Panasonic at all. Strange.
