A question about Pioneer stand alone DVD recorders

Hello Everyone,

Sometime last year, I bought a Panasonic stand-alone DVD recorder. I loved that thing, but it had one very important issue that I just couldn't live with. Unless you are using DVD-RAM blanks, it would automatically insert chapter marks at every 5 minute interval. That's probably no big deal to some, but I don't like it when it comes to recording concerts on TV.

I still plan on getting a stand-alone deck but I am worried that ALL of them (except ones with a built in hard drive) have this feature. I'm kinda leaning towards the Pioneer models. Sony is a close second (my 14 year old VCR is still kicking), but I can't seem to find any info on whether they all have that 5 minute auto chapter thing.

I'm leaning toward the Pioneer DVR-640H-S. It looks to get some good reviews. Any comments about this recorder? I don't care too much about the ones with TiVo since I have a DVR in my Dish Network receiver.

I really don't mind getting one without a hard drive as long as they don't have the auto chapter insert feature. Thank you all for your time.
