yesterday everything played fine then today i tried to play an AVI that worked yesterday and it says connecting, locating codec, downloading codec, error downloading codec. i updated to media player 11 but that didn't help. then i installed the new codec package and that didn't help either. i have no idea what is going on. i didn't change anything since yesterday. im running windows xp if that helps at all. thanks for any help.

You might want to get a program called GSpot and see which codec you specifically need. Then try installing just that codec.
