Q: can all ps1 consoles read ps1 burned discs?

hi i'm new to this site, and since my (PS2) modchip won't read ps 1 burned discs, i'm thinking of getting a ps 1 console instead as it is relatively cheap. to my knowledge it runs CD-R based games, but i'm not sure if it will run PS1 burned discs without having it modified? thanks.

Yes it won't run backups unless it's modified.

Actually if you hold down the sensor button inside with something like a spring and swap any retail game right at the Playstation splash screen with a burned game it will load if you do it right. Technical I guess that's still a mod.
