If you get AnyDVD (not free after 1month trial) then you could just use Nero to backup dvd's.
AVG free anti-virus is good.
DVD decrypter good for ps2 game backup.
mailwasher pro or free version to allow you to filter spam mail before download to pc.
Foobar audio player.
Bitlord to download torrents.
Peerguardian to stop being caught out downloading.
Outpost firewall.
Snagit screen capture is a quality program.
Collectorz software to catalogue any movies, games books etc...
Diskeeper is a full version disk tool that windows degrag is based on.
Lavalys Everest useful for system info and monitoring.
HD Tach, CPUz and Super-pi useful performance indication tools.
Tuneup Utilities, an easy way to clean the PC and correct system errors.

there wont be any mp3/movies downloaded on this machine or dvd burned, thats on my other machine, but can you give me details on what the following are?

frostwire (sounds like limewire, any relation?)
audacity
objectdock

frostwire is the free continuation of limewire. it uses the same network, but doesn't employ any of the filtering on copyrighted stuff. plus it's lighter on resources and typically faster.

audacity is a audio composition/editing program that is free and works well.

don't know about objectdock.

avg is pretty good. the majority of people around here to prefer it.
