Best Buy has been weak lately...last week Dynex and this week Memorex
I can't remember what ads I didn't look at but out of the ones I did that is it.

I've encountered 2 different MID codes with the Office Depot +16x:
Ricohjpn-R03
Ritek-P16
All pretty decent media and well worth 20 cents each.
0 coasters on 150 Ritek-P16 and 6 bum discs in the middle of 1 spindle of the OD ricohs.
I got that same ricohjpn-R03 code on some memosux and they are getting some very nice 95 scores in nero's quality disc scanning program.
Presidents Day Sales!!!!
Staple's has the Playo's on sale,not much of a sale but after $20 rebate-they're around $6/7 a 60 pk. Avoid the 8x speed. Some people have been reporting MCC= Mitsubishi on the +/- 16x. And their rebate is most likely not the easy rebate-but going through Playo itself.
I am very anxious to see if these are Mitsubishi and may be the Guinea Pig!!! I got an empty HP ink cart to unload,LOL

Thanks for the reply. I have two burners Benq 1640 and 1650. You think the Ricohjpn and the Ritek would give 95% burns on either of those burners....

Very easily!
Either of those 2 drives should yield 99.9% success rate with even cmag media.
Nero scores: I AVG about 94-95 with my 1650 and 1620.
It's been 6 months since I've been to OD and I don't know if they switched manufacturers for the +16x.

Yeah guys that sounds like a good price for the OD +Rs. I use their brand (X8) for ones I do for my daughter and others who want to back up their movies. I'll pick up a 100. Haven't gotten any of their 16X, their 16X Maxell from Taiwan are CMCmags.Use them for experiments. I save the TYs for myself.LOL

My only batch of +16x maxells also turned up cmags.
+16x memorex turning up as Ricohs and +16x maxell Cmags. That's not a good sign. Only japanese maxells for me from now on.

I bought some dynex two years ago and they were Ricohjpn. and good media. I was almost tempted to get some this past week @ BB but I'm going to OD tomorrow to get some of their brand.

1. Japanese Maxells are no longer available in North America. There are a rare few 8x packs still floating around at places like Sears, but that's about it.
2. Dynex uses fake MCC media codes. They are NOT real MCC media. They burn OK, but no one has any info on how long they will last.

The RicohJPN are also Fujis. My brother had a spindle of Fujis (I forget which speed it was) but they were quality discs. Obviously, they weren't on par with TY or Verb, but they were very reliable and produced no problems.
Latest AnyDVD to rip > VOBB to blank the unwanted on a DVD > Shrink to compress > ImgBurn to burn = Never starting a thread asking how to backup a movie

Can anyone tell me how those OD brand +R's are? Currently I'm using MCC 16x +R Verb's and only have a 50 pack left, before I used 8x Ridata's(100 pack) that I bought from newegg, blue cover spindle. I've had no probs with any of these and can't even see the difference, although I know MCC Verb's are a LOT better, can anyone tell me if I should buy 3 packs of those OD's to stock up and if they're as good as my other 2, or wait for something like Sony or MCC Verb's to go on sale? Thanks.

marik1234- As you already know Verbatims are excellent -as most members would place them on par with Taiyo yuden or atleast Very damn! close ! That Being said There is nothing wrong with using Less expensive media ( NoTice I did'nt say Crappy ) As long as it is of decent Quality Ritek is a Good Brand of media - no Most of their disc aren't In the same Class with Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim ! But it isn't bad ! I have used Ritek Media Mostly 8x In the Guise of maxells and OfficeDepots & Found them quite Good ! The officedepot disc tend to be cheaper than the maxells ( atleast in the 8x ) and assuming you don't get a bad spindle ( rare but can happen even with some big name brands !!!) A OfficeDepot Disc and a Maxell Disc If Both are Ritek manufactured & the same format & speed Should code the same -Differing cosmetically ! In that case buy the chaeper one (OD usually ) Long story short If you need to Have the utmost quality Disc Go Verbatim or Taiyo it cost a little more but it's worth it ! I mainly use my RiteksG-o5's ( maxells )Family giveaways ! making DVd'd for the grandkids ect.. & so far no complaints ! I have used Some Ricohjpn Media ( TDK DVD+R 4X ) Oem Ricohjpn & burned through a whole spindle of 100 without any problems ! So Hopefully the16x OD ( richojpns ) will be as good or better than the 4x ? ! I have bought more and more 16x Media being 8x is getting harder to find But ,also having a pretty decent Supply of 8x stuff I'm still burning through some of that ! and alot of that Media 16x is OD - Besides SauGmon uses lots of them & seems to like them fine & I respect the lil' Dancing booger 's opinion ! But in the final Moments at the register the decision is yours ! You can always be cautious and buy just one spindle to try first If you like them Buy more while there on sale Just a thought ! hope I did'nt confuse you too much Good luck marik1234 Later My friend !!!!

please do im interested to know myself i've be using nothing but dvd-r's of Verbatim. Know that i have the pioneer 111d which does auto bitset i wanted to start using +r's. So i wanted to try out these OD disc since they're so cheap, but wanted to know that they were atleast a good quality. Thanks

They are good quality. Verbatims are better, but the OD discs are good. I pretty much stick to 3 brands of store bought DVD+Rs, Verbatim, Office Depot and Sony. There are a couple of others I'll use to, but I can usually find one of those on sale any given week.

I just got back from staples and their Playo 16x,for both dash and plus-are MADE IN CHINA!!!!
I didn't even bother.

SO you can't bit set these dvd+r's to dvd-rom??!!! So whats the point of getting them then? i thought bit setting dvd+r's makes them more compatible than dvd-r's? So in this case does it make sense to get the -r's bacause they'll be more compatible than the +r's because of no bit setting? thanks for the info man.

What gives you the idea that I can't booktype them to DVD-ROMs? UNTRUE identifier is just reading the blank disc. and it's unavailable for booktype info because it hasn't been written to.

Yea I get what you're saying BIGTOXY, and I just want to you to know I didn't go for the 3 OD brand +R 16x discs, I bought a 100 pack of MCC Verbs +R 16x from Newegg. :D
It's worth it IMO, they're just that good.
