Difficulty installing Nero 7 Ultra Enhanced Edition Retail

I recently bought Nero 7 Ultra Enhanced Edition. i tried to install it, but it keeps stopping at the installation wizard. I have read all of the installation problems that everyone has had. Let me say that I turned off EVERYTHING that was running in the background. I also made sure that no other burning software programs (I have used Roxio Easy Media Creator 7 in the past) or residue thereof is on my system. My system specs exceed the minimum requirements. I have tried to contact Nero to no avail. Lastly, I even tried to download the trial version and use my serial number, and this did not work, and i did use the clean install utility (Even thought there was nothing to remove because the installation did not get far enough to put something on my system). I am so bleeping frustrated with this, and I spent a lot of money for this. Please help! Thanks!

Are you installing as administrator?

Do you have room on your hard drive for the files to be expanded?

Do you see anything in the event viewer that might indicate any problems around the time of the attempted installs?

I am not running Vista...I am using Windows XP (Service Pack 2, that is)...

Please answer as it relates to XPSP2.

Also, what am I going to do with the store-bought version of Nero? Can it be used? Is it that defective? If it is, how do I get my money back...or did I just pay for a serial number to use for the download?

OK try this, uninstall your Nero, run this clean tool,
http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html and then, using your serial number, download this version of Nero (it's the 1 I prefer) 7.5.9.0 from here

if you are unsuccessfull then re post.
When you purchase Nero, either from a Retailer or via Nero site it is the serial number that is the IMPORTANT item....having a VALID s/n allows for continued free updates .
