Ridata disks quit working after a while?

I have been burning all my movies to Ridata disks for some time now. The other day, I sat down to watch a few, and the disks that I had burned with CloneDVD2/AnyDVD have a lot of skips, pauses, distortions, and after a bit complete freezes on the disk. Now I take good care of my disks, and store them in their own jewel cases, etc. The thing is, I have watched all of these disks before with no problems whatsoever, and now all of a sudden it seems, half of my disk collection is unplayable for the most part
I dont know if maybe I have just gotten a few bad batches of DVD's, or if these Ridata disks are just junky. Anyone else have this problem, and if so, did switching to different media help any?

Your problems are possibly due to the brand of media your using. Batch variations do occur, and you could have a bad batch of bad media. Ritek don't enjoy a good reputation at all with alot of AD members. Use the this LINK as a guide to good, better and best in media quality.(thanks to bubbles19).
Use this as a rule of thumb....Use high quality media and kick down the burn speed. (8X or 4X speed)

I always had the best luck with cds by using Verbatim, maybe I will have to give them a shot for DVDs as well.

It is also possible there is a problem with your DVD player. Check the discs on other players or other drives to see if the same problems show up.

Yes, other DVD players do the same skipping and stopping.
My DVD player plays the originals fine, just the backups are goofed.

I've used Ridata and I have masters that I made 2 years ago and they still read fine. But I have come across a few that didn't so maybe I got a bad batch? I don't know if any of you remember Mitsui Gold CD-R from back in the day but those were hands down the best CD-R. I have some that I have burned over 10 years ago and still have no problem reading them today. Ridata also has a gold line up as well in case you are interested but I am waiting to read some reviews or feedback on it.

There is no alternate source I know of because only those who have the real test equipment are manufacturers (who know where their media fit relative to competitors) or a few independent, impartial test services who do not want to provide competitive advantages/disadvantages unless they are paid for it. CATs, from Audio Development, is the standard in the industry; and it costs $250,000 for a module that can test DVD-R. Additional modules are about $120,000 each for DVD-RW, +R, and +RW. It adds up very quickly!
A scan using K-Probe, Plextools, or Nero CD/DVD Speed will tell you the read quality on the drive under test based on a disc recorded on either that drive or another. That means the recording quality, the disc quality, the recording drive quality, the recording software quality, the record drive/medium compatibility, the integrity of the data files, the settings on the recording computer, and the read drive quality are all variables. digitalFAQ takes none of that into account. The site reports readers' experiences, and the readers take none of that into account, either. If a disc does not work, it is garbage--even if the computer is unplugged! As for the explanations in digitalFAQ, some are correct; some are misunderstandings; some are misleading; and some are just bizarre. The bizarre conclusions are the ones the engineers laugh at.

What's the MID codes from those Ridata backups?
What's the brand name and model# of your burner?
Lots of people had issues with Ritek-G05,which would be the dash 8x.
Ritek-R03 in the +8x are very good discs.
