Edit language on a DVD movie

I have gone as far as editing the soundtrack(inputing silence where offensive language would be, keeping sound file the same size),and then merging the video and audio file(in WAV format). I then play the VOB file back and it plays fine but after I make an image file and play it using Daemon Tools it messes up at the point where I made the edit. Any clue what may be the problem, thanks.
