video file problem

I got the movie file from the sharing softwares, but the movie does not play. The extension is .avi. All AVI files run on my comp properly but this file does not. I think the name of the file can help us understand, because it contains 'unrated.DVDripped.SVCD-XPD', seems xpd is another type of the file, and the file ripped to .xpd, but the file extension is .avi. I dont have a enough knowledge on this kind of matters. Possibly the file is demaged. But it starts, it starts like a classic movies, running numbers like a clockwise, 6,5,4,3,2,1 and then grey color screen, after a while again running numbers. Could you please give me an explanation and the way to watch this movie?
